Purchasing Director
| SUMMARY OF POSITION: The Purchasing Director is responsible for overseeing the Purchasing Department and for ensuring the Purchasing Department obtains the highest quality merchandise and service at the lowest possible purchase cost. The Purchasing Director evaluates suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, reliability, and selection variety.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for all purchasing activities for the location, to include supervision of the Purchasing Department and all associated personnel. • Generate purchase orders as required by Bill of Materials, stock supply on hand and inventory count. • As material is received, update HFA to reflect receipt. • Process discrepant material reports as required and/or requested. • Reflect Milgard business values and Philosophy in all business interactions. • Research vendors and suppliers and their respective pricing to ensure Milgard is getting optimum value. • Prepares, reviews, and distributes daily reports. • Research all backorder issues and expedite product as necessary.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION: • Supervises Purchasing Department staff
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: • Experience in purchasing/procurement • Previous management/supervisorial experience • Experience with performance management systems (MBO’s)
EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMAL TRAINING: • Bachelor’s degree • Purchasing Certificate desired
ESSENTIAL ABILITIES: • Read, write and understand the English language • Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines • Computer literacy with ability to learn new computer software programs • Excellent written and oral communication skills • Attention to detail with strong organizational skills • Excellent customer service skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT: • Work performed indoors in a climate controlled environment • Multiple phone lines
